Georgianna Wade, BS, LMT
Licensed Massage Therapist and Health Educator
License No. 7812
Hi! My name is Georgianna. I graduated from East-West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon and I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2001. My background with an AAS in Biology from Olympic College in 1999 helped prepare my understanding of the human body, but after my experience with bone cancer in a young friend, I was motivated to learn how to relieve acute and chronic pain without the side effects associated with taking medication over a long period of time. After meeting my like-minded husband, Michael, in massage school, I joined the team at Freedom Counseling Center.
Today, I love working with a group of people dedicated to truly helping others to live happier and healthier lives. I still get excited when clients tell me their headache is completely gone by the end of an hour, or they are able to reach their toes without a trace of the pain that stopped them from going past the knees before, or they are finally able to sleep through the night because the pain no longer wakes them. Life just gets better when physical restrictions are no longer distracting us from everyday joys.
I have found that massage therapy can be even more powerful than medication for pain related to contracted muscles, connective tissue restrictions, and achy referred pain. However, changes in exercise, diet, and other life style habits can really help make the results of a massage last longer. In 2007, I completed a BS in Health Education through TUI University to help answer some of the questions presented by clients interested in making changes to reduce or prevent pain over the long-term. New details about health maintenance are uncovered regularly, but I love learning and sharing the latest research in addition to the “tried and true,” things that work. I also value the fact that every individual is unique, so every massage should be uniquely designed for the individual.
